Lakeshore Learning Educational Software Review & Giveaway

Photobucket

My son amazes me in his ability to maneuver the computer, iPad, and iPhone with such ease at his young age. He loves technology. We have found numerous great apps and games that reinforce his learning of colors, shapes, animals, and more. I’m amazed how quickly he is learning.
I have been a customer of Lakeshore for years, as a former preschool and kindergarten teacher as well as a mother. I have never had the opportunity to try their computer software; therefore, when I was offered this opportunity, I was excited. In viewing the variety of programs available, I was impressed. There are programs for children of all ages in the area of math, language, science, and social studies. It took me quite a while to try and choose whether I wanted to review a program with my daughter or with my son.

I chose to review a program with my son. My son has a passion for puzzles and object matching. I chose to review the Amazing Adventures – Object Matching Game. This game allows children to practice their visual discrimination skills by matching the shape to its intended spot in the picture. There are three levels of play, each allowing you to find more matches.  There are three themes from which to choose - the Beach, the Park, and the Garden.

This game is intended for children who are 4 – 5 years of age. My son is only two, yet has been able to easily play this game. The child can click on the shape on the side of the screen, then click on the spot in the picture where it belongs, and the image appears instantly with a sound effect. Because my son is so young and can't quite manipulate my laptop, I had my son choose the object he wanted to find and then point to the spot where it went.  My son has had so much fun playing this game!  He is so proud of himself after he finds all the matches.  Even though he has mastered matching the objects, he hasn't tired of the game.  He loves repeating the names of the objects after the computer says them.

Lakeshore has kindly offered to sponsor a giveaway!  One Tidbits From A Mom reader will win their choice of educational software!  Please fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter.

  4. I would love the Interactive Language Activities CD-ROM Library - Complete Set to use with my son. We homeschool and he has autism so he does most of his learning through visual stuff like the computer. This would be great because I can not find good Language Arts or Social Studies programs for him. This would make it one down one to go.
