LGMedSupply: Portable Pain Relief Products at Affordable Cost

There are several people in my life who cope everyday with chronic pain. When I listen to them describe and observe what they have to endure, I remember how blessed I am that I am not in their position (thankfully, not yet). Whether it is through medication, rest, exercise in moderation, etc., my family members and friends attempt to manage their pain.

LGMedSupply is a company that provides tools to assist people with their medical issues, particularly through their physical therapy electrotherapy and pain relief products. They sell Portable TENS Units, EMS Muscle Stimulators, Interferential Units, and Portable Ultrasound Units for Pain Relief. This is not a website that strictly provides supplies to medical professionals. They supply to individual patients as well. Each product has a minimum 3-year warranty and all items are in stock.

In viewing their website, the LG-TEC Dual Combo TENS Unit and Muscle Stimulator immediately caught my eye. This product would be perfect for my mother! Its purpose is two-fold – it assists with both pain relief and aids in muscle tone and muscle pain. The cost, $109.99, is so worth the benefit!

Therapy can be so costly, particularly with insurance issues nowadays. You can purchase your own product at a fraction of the cost of the retail price and be able to receive the benefits from your own home. You can visit LGMedSupply online or their online customer blog to read more about their products.

Oasap Dress Review

Photobucket

Admittedly, my husband and I don't have the opportunity to go out for "date night" very often. However, if the stars align and we are able to make dinner reservations, I love to look my best of course. I'm eager to wear a sexy look, but not border on the verge of inappropriate. I want to feel comfortable; in particular, not having to fix dress straps or pull my skirt down.

As a blogger for the Oasap Fashion Hunter Program, I was given the opportunity to review an item of my choosing. I chose the Exposed Shoulder Ruffle Mini Dress. The bright color red appealed to me and I own the perfect heels to go with the dress!

Photobucket

As I unwrapped the dress from its packaging, I was a little concerned that the dress would be too big because it is a "one size fits all". It looked so loose that I thought maybe it would just hang on me with no shape to it. But, I was so wrong!! This dress fits me perfectly! I was so excited to put on my heels and model it for my family. I was ready for a night out on the town!

Photobucket

More about this dress:
Sizing:
Bust: 90-140cm
Length: 90cm
Color: red
Fabric: Cotton
Washing: 40 degree machine wash, do not bleach, do not tumble dry, cool iron on reverse, do not dry clean.

I love the fabric of this dress. It is soft and smooth and feels great against my skin. It's comfortable - not too loose, not too tight. It's also a great length - I don't feel as though I need to keep pulling it down.   This dress is currently priced at $28 on the Oasap website!  You can look fabulous and not stress about the money spent.

Oasap.com is currently having some great deals on their website!

  • Receive 25 USD when you pin to Pinterest.
  • Receive a 50 USD coupon code for a 100 USD + order.

*Disclaimer: I did not receive monetary compensation for this post.  I received the above product free as a member of the Oasap Fashion Hunter Program.  The opinions expressed here are my own.

Guest Post: How to Find the Right Sitter for Your Family

How to Find the Right Sitter for Your Family Babysitters are hard to come by, especially good babysitters that the whole family enjoys and trusts. There are a lot of different things to consider and look for when interviewing a new babysitter. Finding the right babysitter takes a little more work and here are a few ways to help you in your search:

Word of mouth: The best way to find the right babysitter for your family is by word of mouth. Asking relatives, friends and neighbors if they recommend anyone will help you weed out any unfamiliar babysitters. The best part of hiring a babysitter from word of mouth is that you know they are obviously a serious candidate to consider if someone you know recommends them.

References: Before you hire your babysitter, ask for a list of references. This list should include current or previous families that the babysitter has worked for. Call the families on the list and ask them basic questions about the babysitters. Other families are willing to share information if the babysitter was good.

Enhance: You want to find a nanny that can bring something to the family table. This means you want a babysitter that will take the lead and enhance your family. Whether they have creative crafts or fun games to play, your babysitter should add to your families’ goals and beliefs. Babysitters are there to help guide your children when you cannot.

Comfortableness: An important key for the babysitter, parents and child is the amount comfortableness. You want to make sure that all parties involved are a 100% comfortable. This means that everyone feels confident and at ease in each other’s presence. To better help determine the amount of comfortableness you can have a ‘trail run’. Invite the potential babysitter over and have them interact with your child in a different room while you work on something else. Then spend some time with the babysitter discussing your needs and their background. Later ask the babysitter how they felt as well as your child.

Take your time and start asking friends and family if they have any good suggestions for a good babysitter. Find a babysitter that is comfortable with your child as well as helps enhance their life. Don’t be afraid to check references and ask the hard questions, after all, this person is watching your child while you are away. Good luck and happy sitter finding!

Book Review & Tour: When Someone You Love Has A Chronic Illness

Photobucket

Synopsis of the book:
Thanks to advances in science and medicine the lifespan of the average American is now longer than ever and many illnesses that once would have proven fatal have become manageable, chronic conditions. Great news, right? Sure, but there is another side to the 21st Century health picture—and it is increasingly becoming part of the lives of Americans. Many more people are living with chronic illness and that means that more than ever family members, friends, and partners are needed to provide formal or informal support.

The average life expectancy in 1920 was around 54 years of age. Today it is between 76-80, though many of us can expect to live much longer—and to be the official caregiver or part of the care giving team for a loved one. For those of us not involved in formal caregiving roles, it is increasingly vital to know what to do and what to say when someone we know is ill. Knowing how to help is crucial to being able to sustain meaningful relationships in this unchartered time of uncertain longevity.

That’s why Tamara McClintock Greenberg, Psy.D., a clinical psychologist who specializes in treating individuals with chronic illness and their families, wrote WHEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE HAS A CHRONIC ILLNESS: HOPE AND HELP FOR THOSE PROVIDING SUPPORT (Cedar Fort Books, February 2012, ISBN: 978-1-59955-939-1, Trade Paper). In this groundbreaking book McClintock Greenberg shows readers how to provide the best care for their loved ones, without losing themselves.
When family, spouses, and friends are thrust into formal or informal caregiving roles they face a variety of psychological and physical challenges, and they often find themselves with little support and few resources. They also must address difficult issues such as non-compliance, denial, chronic pain and frustration on the part of their struggling loved one. No wonder, then, family members in a caregiver role have higher rates of depression and anxiety than those who aren’t involved in providing care. Vicarious trauma and “compassion fatigue” are common, as are feelings of guilt about having needs of their own and attempts to carve out time for themselves. Self-care can start to seem like a luxury that is out of reach. It’s easy to see how this exacts a steep toll on the caregiver, but new research also tells us that it impacts those being cared for. Studies now show that those who devote sufficient time and energy to their own needs provide better quality care than those who don’t. In other words, we provide better support when we pay attention to our own needs.

So, how can caregivers meet the demands of care giving without sacrificing self-care? Throughout WHEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE HAS A CHRONIC ILLNESS: HOPE AND HELP FOR THOSE PROVIDING SUPPORT McClintock Greenberg offers compassionate, authoritative, and step-by-step help for striking this critical balance. At the end of each chapter readers find a “coping checklist” that provides helpful, no-nonsense guidance on how to best address their loved ones’ needs and their own.

My thoughts about the book:
Personally, I watch my family members and friends suffer from various diseases. I have friends and family with Multiple Sclerosis.  I watch my almost 93-year-old grandmother cope with her multiple issues that are the result of her extreme age. My own husband struggles every single day with an undiagnosed issue as a result of doctors failing to figure out the problem.  It is heartbreaking and I don't always know what to say or do.  I think "When Someone You Love Has A Chronic Illness" is a wonderful resource for caregivers as well as loved ones of the ill.  It is easy to read and Dr. Greenberg provides wonderful advice.  I particularly like the Coping Checklists at the end of each chapter.  Each checklist relates directly to that chapter. Dr. Greenberg provides so much information to readers.  It's impressive!  I strongly recommend this book to those with ill loved ones.

Dermagist Review & Giveaway

Photobucket

Within the year after my son was born, I began to notice a drastic change to my skin. I was developing brown patches of skin on my cheeks and my forehead. I first developed a small patch on my left cheek, which I had assumed was sun damage after so many years of driving in the car and the sun hitting my face. Last summer, patches developed on my forehead. Ok…it was weird and I went to the dermatologist. She told me that it was called “pregnancy mask” and develops due to hormone changes in women after they have their babies. She prescribed me a cream, which cost me $90 because insurance won’t cover it. I tried the cream and it was only slightly helpful. This summer, patches developed on my right cheek. Ugh…I really didn’t want to pay more money for a cream that only partially worked.

Dermagist is a company that provides “Miracle Cosmeceuticals for Beautiful Skin”. Their products include Anti Aging and Wrinkle products, Acne Prone Skin products, and Daily Maintenance products. No matter what your skin concern is (i.e., acne scarring, uneven skin tone, dryness, wrinkles, etc.), Dermagist has a product that can help correct the problem. Dermagist provides a 30 day, money back guarantee.

Dermagist offered me the opportunity to review any product of my choosing. I chose to review the Skin Tone Correcting System. This system targets uneven skin, discoloration, and spots. This describes me perfectly! The system involves two steps. First, you wash your face with the Skin Brightening Accelerator, which exfoliates the skin. Then, you apply the Skin Brightening Agent. This is a lotion that helps to brighten your skin and even out the overall tone.

Photobucket

I used this product for approximately one month.  Typically in the past, I've used a product for a couple weeks and then I write the review.  However, I knew that there was no way the product could work like magic and make my discoloration fade instantly.  It would take time.  And I was right.  It did take time.  However, I am so pleased with the results!  The bottles state that it's recommended to use these products twice a day.  I did this for the most part, with the exception of the nights when I was purely exhausted and I crawled into bed.  The Skin Brightening Accelerator has a slight medicinal smell; however, it is not overwhelming and doesn't last long.  The Accelerator is very liquidy and you don't need to use very much at all.  It foams easily and quickly as well.  I also didn't need to use very much of the Skin Brightening Agent for it to be effective.  Overall, I think this is fabulous because you are certainly receiving a large amount of product for the price and it will last, making it cost effective!

Would you like to improve the look of your skin?  Can you relate to what I have been talking about?  Well, I have great news!  Dermagist has offered to sponsor a giveaway for one Tidbits From A Mom reader to win a Skin Tone Correcting System!  Please fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter.

Mia Mariu Botanical Skincare and Mineral Makeup Review

Photobucket

As you may be aware from reading my posts, I have really become interested in sharing about fashion and beauty products. As does everyone’s skin, my skin has changed over the past few years and there are definitely tiny wrinkles where I used to have smooth skin. I used to be the woman that would only wear eyeliner and a little blush. I would also save each and every piece of makeup well past its shelf life, which you may know, can be horrible for your skin. Times have changed. I only want to apply quality makeup to my skin because I want it to look its best!

Mia Mariu provides natural health and beauty products that are meant to help you achieve and maintain healthy looking skin. Their products include mineral makeup, botanical skin care, and healthy nutrition products. Mia Mariu products are available online as well as through Independent Distributors. They also provide those who wish to have a home-based business with the opportunity to sell their products.

I was sent numerous Mia Mariu products to review, including the Maria Bonita Mineral Blush, Marino Loose Mineral Eye-Shadow-Liner, Rosa Loose Mineral Eye Shadow-Liner, Caricia Hydrating Stick Gloss, No. 25 Precision Eyeliner/Wet Dry, Restauracel-C Microdermabrasion Thermal Activator and Refinishing Cream, and Hydrating Moisturizer SPF 30+. I was also provided their catalog, which provides a great deal of amount of information about their products.

Photobucket

I am not a woman that has had the luxury of going to salons or spas for facials. I have only had one in my life and that was nearly eight years ago (a trip to the spa was my first Mother’s Day present). I have depended upon products from local stores or those products that I have been able to review. The Restauracel-C Microdermabrasion Thermal Activator and Refinishing Cream are set, in which you mix a bit together to apply to your clean face. These products don’t irritate your face and are oil-free. I like the sensation in my skin when I used these – I felt like the little granules in the Refinisher Cream were hard at work opening up my pores. My skin felt great! I immediately applied the Hydrating Moisturizer. I love that this moisturizer has SPF 30+ and the fact that it’s not in the least bit greasy. My skin felt wonderful.

I have never owned loose mineral powder before. I only applied the Rosa color because this is the closest to what I typically wear. The Marino is dark for me and frankly, since I don’t know that much about makeup, I wasn’t quite sure if I could apply without making myself look like a clown :)  I loved how light and soft this powder is! I used the Precision Eyeliiner/Wet Dry to apply, which was the perfect size brush. The Mineral Blush is similar in that it’s soft and not overpowering. When I initially saw the pink color, I thought it might be a little too pink for my cheeks; however, I was very wrong.

I don’t often wear lipstick because my lips are extremely sensitive and seem to break out in cold sores at the lightest application of gloss or lipstick. However, I just had to try the Caricia Hydrating Stick Gloss. It went on so effortlessly and smooth! I love that it contains vitamins and minerals to help protect lips against dryness. So, there is no need to wear multiple products to achieve the same result.

Ultimately, I feel pampered after using Mia Mariu products. I’m looking forward to adding to my makeup kit with the foundation, concealer, and mascara! Thank you very much to Mia Mariu for the opportunity to review their products!

Mia Mariu has very generously offered to sponsor a giveaway for one Tidbits From A Mom reader to win a Hydrating Stick Gloss, two Mineral Loose Shadow Liners, one Mineral Blush and one No. 25 Mía Precision Eyeliner Brush of their own!  Please fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter!

Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Even though it is only mid-September, we have some local stores that are unpacking Christmas supplies and arranging the shelves with Christmas decorations right next to the Halloween supplies and decorations.  It seems a bit early to me; however, I know that many people want to get a head start on their shopping.  Before we know it, the holiday season will be upon us.

Even though there have been some news stations that report that the economy is turning around, it still appears to be in tough shape.  The families with which I work are seriously struggling to make ends meet.  The holiday season is stressful for them.  They want to be able to provide for their families and make everyone happy.  Many families in my elementary school building rely on Kmart’s layaway program each year to buy their holiday gifts

Kmart’s free layaway program varies from other stores’ layaway programs for a few different reasons.  Their layaway program applies to not only in-store items, but it applies to online purchases as well.  They provide an 8-week and a 12-week option of bi-weekly payments.  Other stores require that there be a minimum price for the item and a certain total overall; however, this isn’t the case with Kmart.

Kmart would like to make an announcement about their Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway, which is running from 9/9/12 to 11/17/12.  Every single store will have a winner every single week!  All you need to do is put your purchases on layaway!  If you win, your remaining balance will be paid off!

Here are a couple of photos of items I would be particularly interested in placing on layaway with Kmart's layaway program:
