Psychic Services by Diane Canfield - Review & Giveaway

Speaking to psychics gives me mixed feelings. I’m both excited and nervous at the same time. I can’t wait to hear what they have to share with me and yet, I’m anxious about whether I won’t like or know what to do with the information they tell me. I started crying at this point because this was my grandfather and how others viewed him.

Although, I’m only in my mid-thirties, I can see how my skin is no longer what it used to be. When I’ve made comments in frustration to my husband, he jokingly reminds me that I’m no longer young. Ughh…I hate getting older. I want to fight it!

World of Ink Book Tour: Porcupine's Seeds - Review & Giveaway

It is well documented on here that I do not have a green thumb. I am so envious of others' ability to grow beautiful plants in their homes and gardens. I just don't seem to possess the skill/talent. The plans and flowers that we own better be pretty hardy!! I have always been drawn to sunflowers. They are at the top of the list of my favorite flowers. I have yet to grow them though :)

The World of Ink Book Tour for June is Porcupine's Seeds, written by Viji K Chary and illustrated by Bridget McKenna. This story is about Porcupine's wish to grow sunflowers in his garden like his friend Raccoon. Raccoon gives his friend some seeds and explains to Porcupine that soil, sun, and water are all that are needed to make the sunflowers grow. However, Porcupine experiences some trouble in his quest to grow the flowers.

My thoughts about the book:

I know it's a children's story, but I could certainly relate to it! Porcupine's Seeds is an adorable story that my children enjoyed as well. After reading the story, my daughter and I discussed the fact that Porcupine worked so hard to follow all the steps, yet things went wrong along the way. We talked about how some things are out of our control, but that things can work out alright in the end. I wasn't expecting to have such a deep conversation with her, but it was a teachable moment that came at just the right time!

Big Fish Games PC Game Review & Giveaway (TWO Winners!)

I do not have a great deal of spare time; however, there are at occasions at night, once the kids have gone to bed, when I am able to play a game on the computer. I’ve been really lucky as a mom blogger to have the opportunity to review various games for the PC and other game systems. Personally, I have purchased many games through Big Fish Games over the years. They have a fabulous selection and the prices are just right!

When Big Fish Games approached me and asked if I would like to do a review, I jumped at the opportunity! I chose to review Planet Horse. As I’ve written on here before, my daughter is obsessed with horses. The game was very easy to download and install. In order to have an opportunity to even play the game, I had to wait until my daughter went to bed ;) I was able to choose my horse, the sex of the horse, the color, and additional markings on the horse. I was then able to name the horse.

Players can care for their horse, participate in competitions, and ride through a wide variety of settings. Once you become skilled in different areas, you can unlock different items for your horse as well as unlock additional horses from which to choose. There are so many options for this game – it is great entertainment. Personally, I have really enjoyed playing Planet Horse. I was lucky as a child to be able to take some riding lessons and if I had the time and money, I would love to pursue them as an adult. Since this isn't written in the cards for right now, I can live through Planet Horse. As for my daughter, I believe the neighbors have heard her squealing with delight ;) She is a huge fan!

New Quaker Soft Baked Bars

In all the reading that I have done over the past year and a half on weight management, I have read that you need to eat small meals throughout the day. I have to admit that I am not very good at this. I tend to skip my mid-morning snack; therefore, I am starving my lunchtime. Book Review: Just In Case You Ever Wonder

Ever since my daughter was just an infant, I have collected many books that have a common theme – the love that a mother has for her child. I say, “I love you” every single day to my children; however, they simply can’t grasp the intensity and magnitude of this love. The authors of the books I buy have such beautiful words that convey how I feel.

I was first introduced to Max Lucado’s books while participating in my RCIA classes last year. Although I haven’t read his books for adults, I simply fell in love with his children’s books. I really enjoy reading them to my daughter. “Just In Case You Ever Wonder” is now one of my absolute favorites. My daughter does not yet know that her father and I lost two babies prior to having her. She doesn’t don’t think she will understand this until she is older.

One of the things that I love about this book is that Lucado also talks about the fact that no matter what happens and the fact that your child will grow older and change, you will always love them.

“I’ll always love you.

I’ll always hug you.

I’ll always be on your side.

And I want you to know that…

just in case you ever wonder”.

Lastly, Lucado talks about how God wishes for parents to teach their children about heaven and explain that it’s beautiful, there’s no pain, and nothing to be afraid of. One of my favorite lines is in the end when it states that “I will be there, too. I promise. We will be there together, forever”.

This book is so sweet and I highly recommend it to parents. Just In Case You Ever Wonder can be purchased at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.
