New 2012 Costumes at Wholesale Costume Club: Review & Giveaway

  I am heading back to work tomorrow after a great summer off with the kids and my daughter is returning back to school as well. Summer is officially over in my mind and my sights are set on enjoying fall. Fall is by far my favorite season. I love when the weather is just slightly chilly. I love baking tasty “fall recipes” with apples or pumpkin. And yes, my kids love preparing for Halloween. My kids each both have their costumes planned.

I typically feel a little stressed when All Hallow’s Eve is approaching because I have to find an appropriate adult costume that can be worn at work (an elementary school). This is not always an easy task. All of our local costume stores have extremely short, sexy costumes, which obviously would be a huge no-no for me. I am so happy to show you my costume for this Halloween, thanks to Wholesale Costume Club!

Wholesale Costume Club has costumes for the entire family (even pets) for such affordable prices! There are so many to choose from – it may take a while to figure out what you want to be! The costumes that are available are the same costumes found in local stores but are sold at lower prices. Accessories, masks, hats, and wigs are also available for purchase. It’s nice to be able to visit one website and find costumes for everyone and not have to shop around in various stores or numerous websites. I simply don’t have that kind of time!

The Wholesale Costume Club was generous to provide me with the opportunity to review a costume. I chose to review the Flintstones Pebbles Adult Costume. I chose this costume for two reasons. The first reason is that I was a huge fan of the Flintstones when I was a child. The second reason is because this costume is totally appropriate for work! The Flintstones Pebbles Adult Costume includes every item seen in the picture, with the exception of the shoes. No additional purchases are necessary. I requested a size Small, which fit perfectly. I really like this costume because the material is a soft felt; therefore, it can be worn for a while without feeling uncomfortable and itchy. I was really impressed with the quality of the wig. In the past, I have spent a lot of money on wigs for costumes and they have been extremely cheap. Either the hair falls out when you brush it even lightly or when you part it slightly, there are huge sections where there is no hair at all. This wig is great! I was able to brush it and there are no hairless sections!

Pull-Ups Potty Break Kit Review & Giveaway

  My son began showing interest in using the potty about a month after he turned two years old. We bought him a potty and showed him how to use it. We also began using a couple storybooks with him help in the process. We are hoping (with a bit of praying) that he will be potty trained earlier than my daughter was trained. I know the word is that boys take longer than girls, but I can still try, right?

Many parents, including myself, turn to Pull-Ups to assist in the training process. They are so much easier to use than diapers due to frequent bathroom visits. Pull-Ups was very kind to send me a Potty Break Kit to help me with my son’s potty training. My son was ecstatic to receive his new Potty Break Kit because Lightening McQueen is his absolute favorite character. He was happy to repeat over and over again, “McQueen diaper! McQueen diaper!” We hung up the potty success chart in the bathroom right next to his Lightening McQueen potty. I explained the chart and where we put the stickers. I had to hide the stickers because he wanted to use them immediately!

We began using the Pull-Ups immediately. I had requested a 2T because that is the size he wears; however, I found that they were too tight for him. We really needed the 3T. He had trouble with trying to pull them down, which isn’t unusual because he doesn’t pull his shorts up and down independently either. Since they were too small, I used these Pull-Ups with him only during the day and placed a diaper on him at night. They were completely absorbent and didn’t disappoint, which is why I’ve been a Huggies fan for a long time!


I programmed the Cars wristwatch to remind my son every half hour that he needed to use the potty. This is a quality plastic watch and adorable with McQueen on it. Unfortunately, he loved the idea of the wristwatch but wouldn’t wear it for more than five minutes. Therefore, I simply placed it on the table. When it went off, I reminded him, “Ok, time to use the potty”. I wish I could say that my excitement was returned in kind…but, I can’t. He fought me each and every time, which was discouraging. But, I did not push and make it a battle. He is very young and I didn’t want him to view this as a fight and control issue. I’m happy to say that this hasn’t been a total failure though! My son uses the potty every single night before he gets into the bath tub. It has become part of his routine and he is so proud of himself when he is successful. Therefore, this proves that he will be successful once we are able to build more potty breaks into his normal daily routine.

My son thinks it’s hysterical that the animals are saying “Happy Birthday” to him!

Scarves are one of my favorite fashion accessories right now. I go through phases, like many women do, where I just don’t like the clothes I’m wearing anymore. They get monotonous. Sure, I can try to mix the look up by wearing different jewelry, but sometimes, I just feel blah…I love how adding a scarf to an outfit can change the look. Maintaining my figure is on my mind on a daily basis. I am a stress-eater and with my line of work, I feel as though I am always hungry. I have recently started exercising on a more regular basis in order to help cope with stress, but I am open to receiving a little extra help in order to keep my figure ;)

When I was offered the opportunity to review SafSlim, I jumped at the chance. I received samples of both the Tangerine Cream Fusion and the Berry Cream Fusion. I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first dose! I tried the Tangerine Cream Fusion and it was yummy! It tastes like a creamsicle! I took 1 tablespoon in the morning before breakfast and 1 tablespoon before dinner. Although I haven’t taken SafSlim for very long, I have not felt that bloated feeling I despise. Because it’s all natural, I don’t feel anxiety about taking it, such as whether it’s going to affect my liver or if I’m suddenly going to have chest pain. SafSlim has simply become part of my diet.

In addition to the samples, I also received a book entitled, “Belly Fat Breakthrough!: Smart Science for Transforming Your Body” by Karlene Karst, Ph.D. Although a fairly small book, it is jam packed with information regarding hunger, fat, carbohydrates, and tips for losing weight.  I have read many diet books and articles, but I still learned a great deal from this little book!  I was particularly interested in reading about the benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids.  I have had supplements sitting in my cabinet and I haven't taken care of them, but that's certainly going to change!

Book Review & Giveaway: The Snow Child

Jack and Mabel have moved to Alaska in 1920 to escape the heartache of losing a baby. They struggle to cope with this loss while establishing their farm and simply put food on the table. On the night of the first snowfall, Jack and Mabel impulsively create a snow child. The next morning, the snow child is gone. However, there are tracks leading away from the spot within the snow. Within a couple of days, a little girl appears who is wearing the hat and mittens that had been placed on the snow child. Jack and Mabel develop a relationship with the little girl, named Faina, and ultimately, come to love her as a daughter. The Snow Child, written by Eowyn Ivey, is the story about Jack and Mabel’s love for Faina and what they learn about her.

I was drawn into the mystery of this story right from the beginning. I was intrigued by Faina’s character and couldn’t wait to learn more about her. Was she the snow child that Jack and Mabel made? If not, who was she and how could she survive in the Alaskan wilderness all by herself?? I tried to imagine myself living in the middle of nowhere in Alaska in 1920 and couldn’t relate to the hardship of Jack and Mabel, let alone Faina! Losing two babies myself in the past, I could relate to Jack and Mabel’s intense grief and how they quickly felt the need to care for Faina. This is a wonderfully written story that will keep you glued to the end.

My son has been having his diaper changed now for almost two years and he still often cries. He simply doesn’t like to be pulled away from what he is doing for the change. If he sees me walk into the room with a diaper in my hand, he runs! Sometimes it’s a game to him and he’s laughing and other times, he is trying to outrun the inevitable.

My diaper changing used to take longer because I was fiddling with the sides to make sure the diaper was on properly and snug. However, with the Slip-On diapers, I slide them on and my son is ready to go. As far as nighttime goes, the diapers certainly held up and there were no leaks at all.

One really cool feature of the Slip-On diapers is the sides do actually detach if you want them to and re-attach just as easily. I wasn’t aware of this when I first received the diapers and I was a little concerned about the mess I was going to have when my son had a bowel movement. I was SO relieved to see the sides could still detach if needed.

Oransi Robby Wash Laundry Ball Review & Giveaway

My husband and I have been really trying to cut down our grocery bill, but frankly, it has not been going very well. I have read posts about couponing, watched videos, read circulars, visited numerous coupon sites (catching computer viruses along the way ) and we haven’t made a significant dent in our bill. There are different factors that play in to why, but I won’t bore you with the details here.

I dread the weeks when I need to buy laundry detergent. I think that I could definitely decrease the number of loads that I wash in a week by letting the piles build up a little bit. However, I really try to stay on top of the wash so that I am not overwhelmed and spending my entire Saturday doing laundry. Because I run more washes, I am using more laundry detergent than I like. I was intrigued when I heard about the Robby Wash Laundry Ball – a little laundry ball that can last up to one year or 120 loads of washes. Needless to say, I was eager to review it!



When I received the ball, I have to admit, I was a little bit skeptical. How can this little ball last so long? Would it truly clean my clothes? Would it irritate my children’s skin? I would just have to test it out and see for myself.

I used the ball with a load of towels for the initial test. It was pretty nice just tossing the ball into the washer with the towels and not having to measure any liquid. When both the washing cycle was over and the towels were dry, I was pleasantly surprised. I was also pleased when no rashes appeared on anyone in my family.

I began washing my husband’s and my clothes with the ball and then lastly, my children’s clothes. Our clothes are clean, smell nice, and I haven’t needed to purchase laundry detergent. Aahhh…saving money. It feels good!

I know that I am not yet the “fashionista” I aspire to be someday, but I do love fashion and the thrill of finding the perfect eye-catching outfits and accessories. I had the opportunity to review two watches from J3LL.  The watches come in three styles - the "Block" (square face), the "Rock" (large face), and the "Clock" (round face).  The first watch I chose was a "Rock" watch that had a white band and a white face.  The second watch I chose was a "Clock" watch that had a purple band and a purple face.  I deliberated for quite some time about choosing a watch face that was a different color than the band, but honestly, there were so many different color arrangements I loved, it was hard to choose.  So, I stuck with solid color choices. 


I was a bit struck by the size of the watched when I unwrapped them.  They are larger than I expected.  However, when I tried them on, I thought, "Oh, yeah...these are cool!"  Talk about eye-catching and fun!  They remind me of the jelly watches from when I was younger :)  I love the fact that these watches are so colorful, different from what I am accustomed to wearing, and the fact that you can change the watch faces to accessorize your outfit.

I received a box of five packets to review. I tried my first packet while at work to see if it could really help me in focusing my attention and provide energy. My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Review & Giveaway and $20 Discount Code!

I have admitted in the past that I can be somewhat of a hoarder of books. I have yet to admit my other hoarding passion – photos! I am extremely sentimental about my photo albums. I have albums that span my life as well as albums that chronicle my children’s brief lives so far. Amongst my hobbies, I have yet to venture into the world of scrapbooking. She brought in an album that she had created for her baby and I was so impressed with the details. I felt that sudden urge I get to try a new hobby immediately (I had the same urge when I began making jewelry). I tried a variety of templates, changed colors, altered boxes, added embellishments, etc. If I didn’t like something that I had tried, I simply removed it and started over. No pressure. I loved the freedom of being creative and not having to worry that I was going to wreck it. Again, this digital scrapbooking software is absolutely perfect for me!

I am currently working on individual baby albums for my daughter and my son as well as one of my husband and me. I am looking forward to becoming a “digital scrapbooking aficionado” (is that a term?)
